What is the biggest lie about success that social media keeps selling?

One of the biggest lies social media sells is that success happens quickly.
We often see the highlights—a new business launch, a luxury lifestyle, or someone celebrating a big achievement. What we usually don't see are the years of hard work, failures, learning, and consistency behind those moments.
Social media can create the impression that everyone is succeeding overnight, which leads many people to compare their beginning to someone else's middle or end.
Another common misconception is that followers, likes, and viral posts automatically equal success. While visibility can create opportunities, true success is usually built on skills, relationships, value creation, and long-term consistency.
The reality is that success looks different for everyone. For some, it's building a profitable business. For others, it's having financial stability, meaningful work, or a balanced life.
Social media is a useful tool for inspiration and learning, but it only shows a small part of the story. The most sustainable success often comes from doing the unglamorous work repeatedly, improving over time, and staying committed even when nobody is watching.
In my opinion, the biggest lie isn't that success is impossible—it's the idea that success should be fast, easy, and always visible.
